The Director of Business Development is responsible for creating and capturing new business deals outside of the company's current portfolio of products/service offerings. The candidate must be able to work well with technical professionals and translate current and future capabilities to brand new opportunity capture, which will include manufacturing and service-type arrangements. Will act as a core resource for the business executives, teaming to develop and execute growth playbooks. Will support the U.S. President with commercial strategy development, customer deal-making, supply chain teaming, peer teaming and M&A initiatives.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
New Business Opportunities: Act as an entrepreneur, identifying new markets and manufacturing opportunities that are not the current focus of existing company operations. Energy will be applied to portfolio expansion within existing customers (new divisions/products) and the capture of new customers altogether. Relentless in understanding and leveraging existing technical and logistics capability and finding creative ways to sell that base expertise as a solution to customers less familiar with the company. Will create profitable adjacent business opportunities to company's core aerospace component manufacturing business, working to avoid standard RFQ/quote bid streams.

Customer Relationships: Implement a highly proactive approach to cultivating new customer relationships. Works to introduce and create relationships for functional leads and executives (CEO/President/COO). Highly resourceful and will work tirelessly to find champions within new customer operations and executive teams. Networking capability with existing operations relationships across the Aerospace and Defense (Tier 1 and 2) marketplace.

Strategy:
Works with senior leadership team to evaluate new markets and customers. Will independently produce technology and market reports from scratch, learning then acting as an educator to the management team. Aligns business development activities with growth and technology playbooks; looks for good deals not just new deals. Understands financials and can model opportunities independently. Will be a core player in growth playbook development and execution for those divisions.

President Support:
Ability to assist President with deal creation (growth/cost/local government/M&A). Can be tasked with administrative duties, research, material creation and due diligence activity. Produces work product with high first-pass yield. Can act in Corporate Development capacity as needed.

Other Essential duties:

  • Work collaboratively with Engineering, Operations, and Leadership Team
  • MUST be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
