Job Summary:

An International, $900MM+ dollar Manufacturer is seeking a GENERAL MANAGER for their specialty materials manufacturing operation, located in Columbia, TN. It is a heavy industrial manufacturing plant that caters to other high-tech product manufacturers around the globe.


This is an excellent career opportunity for a proven industrial operations management executive with experience taking newly started operations to their next level of production capability. Within this role, it offers high visibility and excellent avenues for further advancement for the successful executive in this position.


  • Running an entire manufacturing operation experience is a must.

  • Post-Start-up Industrial Operations Management experience.  

  • Should have experience taking a newly established operation to its next level of existence.

  • Must be a team player, who has experience working within a MATRIXED hierarchical management structure.  Team Concept philosophies are critical. 

  • Strong preference for manufacturing experience involving Heavy Industrial production like in the metals, paper, or automotive component manufacturing industries (Continuous and/or Batch Process).  No high-speed assembly manufacturing.

  • Must have a BS degree in an Engineering field. An MBA is a plus.

  • Must have strong experience leading all aspects of a manufacturer including business operations (accounting, sales, marketing, business development, HR, etc…). 

  • Must be a champion of Continuous Improvement, ideally utilizing Operational Excellence or Lean Manufacturing. Does not need to be a Lean Expert / Six Sigma Black Belt, etc….

  • Must have significant P&L experience. 

  • 10 years of industrial / manufacturing operations management experience is required.  

  • Must be able to wear multiple hats within the organization. Understand the needs of divergent groups. Must have a good grasp of the big picture regarding overall business objectives. 

  • Willing to travel (10%) – Either has or can easily get a Passport for International travel.

  • Experience working for a Multi-National / International corporation is strongly preferred. Foreign language skills are also a plus (especially French, Chinese, Korean, and/or Japanese).
