Position Summary:
As the Inventory Manager for our Client in Fargo, ND, you will undertake a dynamic and pivotal role that is critical to the operational success of the organization. We’re seeking a candidate with extensive experience in managing large inventories, specifically with a background of managing thousands of SKUs or products within the manufacturing industry. This role requires oversight of multiple large indoor warehouses and some external yards. The position is ideal for local candidates or those open to relocation.
In your role as Inventory Manager, you will serve as the primary authority on all matters relating to inventory management, given your rich background in manufacturing, fabrication, construction, and possibly even retail environments. Your role involves collaborating with all branches and departments to assess costs, analyze data, and pinpoint inefficiencies. You will leverage your comprehensive understanding of the business to develop standardized best practices across branches and formulate strategic decisions to propel the company forward.
Safety is paramount. As an Inventory Manager, you are expected to model stringent adherence to safety policies and rules, promptly address or report safety hazards or unsafe conditions, and propose safety process enhancements to foster continual safety improvement.
Job Responsibilities:
As Inventory Manager, your responsibilities will encompass:
- Enhancing processes to increase accuracy and reduce inventory shrinkage
- Using the company’s primary ERP system to manage inventory across multiple sites and subsidiaries via accurate recording of deliveries, shipments, transfers, and production entries
- Ensuring accuracy of purchasing and receiving information to upgrade inventory control processes and procedures, and uphold optimal inventory levels
- Collaborating with IT and Finance to provide monthly inventory status reports
- Evaluating inefficiencies and proposing strategies to minimize costs, optimize inventory control, and improve logistics
- Investigating and resolving inventory discrepancies
- Timely recording and tracking of obsolete inventory reduction
- Proposing process improvement initiatives to company leadership to constantly enhance inventory management procedures
- Managing and coordinating the activities of inventory control personnel, with direct supervision of Fargo yard staff
Required Skills & Qualifications:
We’re seeking someone who can effectively manage over $10 million in inventory and oversee multiple locations and subsidiaries, preferably with experience in construction and manufacturing ERP systems (Vista experience is a bonus). The ideal candidate possesses a hands-on approach, strategic mindset, and the capability to lead a team. You should also bring ten or more years of directly related inventory management experience to the table.
