Manufacturing Engineer

  • The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading, planning, directing, and coordinating the work activities for 4 process technicians and resources necessary for streamlining and improving processes

Summary:

  • The Manufacturing Engineer will work in Operations and report to the Plant Manager
  • The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and process improvements per safety protocols, product specifications, and quality controls.
  • The Manufacturing Engineer supports Project Teams in the development of new products to customers. The Manufacturing Engineer is also responsible for effective and efficient project planning. 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review internal and external designs for manufacturability
  • Processes that are typical to our manufacturing process include: extrusion, mixing, blending, batching, die cutting, and assembly
  • Develop and implement cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods
  • Ability to work on teams with a creative mind for continually improving process/systems using Lean methodologies and concepts
  • Ability to plan projects from start to finish using project management tools
  • Demonstrate ability to identify project requirements, divide projects into manageable tasks and deliverables while mitigating risks and obstacles to ensure the plan is completed on time
  • Uphold and comply with all safety, environmental, and quality protocols.
  • Lead, direct, coach and develop a team of process technicians

 

Requirements:

  • BA/BS/AAS degree required, ideally in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology or closely related
  • Must be familiar with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement concepts; prefer six-sigma or lean certifications
  • 2-7+ years of manufacturing experience; Must have experience in chemicals and or polymers experience 
  • Must have experience leading projects and or managing, influencing, coaching, leading, or directing a team of employees
  • Must be capable of problem solving, multi-tasking and working in a fast-paced environment
  • Skilled with data analysis in MS Excel and ERP systems; prefer experience with Minitab
