This position is responsible for receiving, planning, recording, and monitoring inventories of raw materials for the facility.   Supports operations personnel in MRO, and will work closely with plant and corporate personnel in operations, traffic, sales, and accounting. The Materials / Traffic Coordinator supports the Company’s quality program commitment to excellence in order to meet customer needs to ensure that every shipment is on time, ready to use and meets customer requirements.  
  • Coordinate, schedule, and control the ordering, receipt, and processing of raw materials for operations
  • Coordinate, track, and report on all rail car shipping and receiving activities
  • Coordinate all material sampling analysis and reporting 
  • Monitor raw materials inventory and coordinate with operation departments to maintain inventory at desired levels
  • Initiate raw materials purchase requisitions and transaction in AS400 – JDE/Materials MRO system and Coupa Purchase to Pay systems
  • Work with vendors reconciling weights and assays for settlement. Assist vendors with all information requests and documentation. 
  • Keep records of raw materials ordered and receipt against each purchase order
  • Maintain files and receipt data for all materials received.  Provide weekly and monthly reports on the status fo raw materials purchased versus the budget and material ordering plan in place
  • Process and close all EAF Dust Hazardous Waste Manifests. Maintain records and communications as required by the appropriate agency/agencies (EPA, DOT, and DHEC)
  • Process receipts and shipments in the JD Edwards accounting system for WOX, EAF, Coke, and IRM
  • Maintain the plant RCRA Operating Log and required SCDHEC reporting and the HW Manifest distribution 
  • Maintain certification / credentials to DOT/RCTA regulations for shipment and receiving of Hazardous Materials and Wastes.
  • Track railroad movement and report findings to the Corporate Traffic Dept.
  • Assist HSE Administrator with MSDS compilation, compliance, and record keeping
  • Work with HSE Administrator in complying with applicable OSHA and EPA regulations in regard to the handling of raw materials
  • Assist HSE Administrator with contract certifications and record keeping and uniform safety supply ordering and distribution
  • Support the initiatives of executive management, maintain confidentiality as necessary, and perform other duties as assigned. 
Knowledge and skills
  • Must be able to interact effectively with others- both inside and outside the company – ensuring effective communication with potential suppliers, who are frequently also customers.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and Microsoft Word to generate reports required to inform management of the status of raw material supply versus the budget and plan.
  • Must have the ability to plan and organize, and set priorities
  • Must have sound judgement and be able to make good decisions
  • Must have an understanding of general technical matters as they relate to the various site operations
  • Must have a reasonably good knowledge of applicable Environmental, Health, and Safety standards
  • Must be able to climb stairs, drive, and wear personal protective Equipment
  • Able to work with the JD Edwards data management system
  • Possess and ability to understand the chemistry and physical characteristics of raw material available and understand the impact of variations on the operation.
