Assist Engineering Manager participating in the design and installation of equipment, processing systems, and utilities to meet customer needs.  Supervise from inception to completion, capital and improvement projects while supporting equipment reliability and preventative maintenance efforts. 


  • Identify and solve production problems that impact product quality or throughput.
  • Work with suppliers to specify, develop, and debug new products, production equipment, and manufacturing lines as required to produce product.
  • Prepare project documentation to include, scope of work, design documentation and RFP’s.  Evaluate bids and make recommendations. 
  • Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and prepare FAT reports.
  • Drive projects through all phases of implementation and completion, including design, procurement, installation, startup, and turn over to manufacturing while minimizing the risks to the product, people and production losses.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams including manufacturing, quality assurance, maintenance, equipment manufacturers and installation contractors in resolving issues.
  • Assist with the identification and execution of projects to improve the overall efficiency of the plant.  Projects may incorporate improvements to equipment, process or people. 
  • Identify safety hazards and develop plan to resolve.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from a four year college or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in engineering, maintenance, equipment reliability, and/or capital project management
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have a good working knowledge of technology and equipment employed in the food industry including boilers, refrigeration, pumps, fillers, cappers, sealers, printers, a wide range of  wrapping and packaging equipment, swept surface heat exchangers, and blenders. 
  • Knowledge of control and automation systems is desired. 
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and work both independently and in multidisciplinary groups/teams with a high level of motivation. 
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Professional Suite.
