Are you a Plant Manager who wants to play a key role in the growth of a small, family owned manufacturing company?  Are you a Plant Manager who has strong machining experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing environment?  If you can answer “yes” to these questions, you should consider this opportunity.

Our client’s company was founded in 1978, and is a family-owned contract manufacturer of precision metal products for large OEMs. The Peru, IL location is a two-shift manufacturing plant comprised of 50 modern CNC machine tools. Our client’s major customers are major OEMs in several different industries including agriculture and construction. As Plant Manager, reporting to the CEO/Owner, you will be the leader of a staff of 3 direct reports and 60 indirect reports in a two-shift (5 10s) 5 day a week operation. You will be responsible for Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Production Control. You will manage the facility and grounds providing leadership, direction, coordination, control, encouragement, and evaluation.

  • Develop the technical ability of the team focused on engineering solutions that will build capability and competitive advantage.
  • Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive improvements in productivity, quality, delivery, inventory, safety, scrap, and cost obj
  • Review production schedules, daily reports, and forecasts to develop plans to achieve 100% on-time customer delivery.
  • Build a skilled winning team focused on continuous improvement of Quality, Cost, Morale, and Safety.
  • Plan, organize and direct the plant team to build Quality into the process of current business and in new product introduction process.
  • Maintain effective customer contact personally and from all areas of the business
  • Plan, organize and direct the recruiting, hiring, and development of teammates.
  • Promote programs and procedures to develop teammate skills at all levels within the company.
  • Supervise direct reports by assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Ensure that customer satisfaction remains the guiding focus of the company's business activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or related field
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines within time management skills
  • MUST HAVE strong experience in a low volume/high mix manufacturing operation
  • Experience with a company that sells to very large OEM customers
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma concepts and toolsets.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
  • At least 5 years managing an organization in a machining (metal cutting) environment
