Our client is seeking a Process Control Engineer to support the control systems (DCS, PLC, SIS, etc.) at their Houston facility. Your main responsibility will be to work with Operations Engineers and Operators to provide process control that meets their needs and makes their jobs easier and safer.
You will maintain control systems that perform to achieve functionality and safety obligations and maximize system capability. This includes DCS hardware and software maintenance and improvements, automation for capital projects, membership on key control systems related teams, and coordination of concepts with Production.
Excellent communication and strong team-working skills will be key for success in this position.
Leveraging your bachelor or advanced degree in Electrical or Chemical Engineering and your experience in automation of specialty chemical of continuous and batch plants, you will provide expert support for the control systems as needed across the plant.
Using your knowledge of Failure Mode and Criticality analysis, Root cause failure analysis and other industry standard tools, you will promote and lead continuous improvement of our automation system, investigating failures and deviations and providing short term mitigation and long-term resolution recommendations.
Your solid programming software knowledge will be essential as you utilize various types of DCS and PLC equipment and software (Honeywell, and Experion DCS, Allen-Bradley PLCs) during your daily work.
Using knowledge of SIS systems, you will help us upgrade our process safety, working individually and as part of a team alongside project managers and experts.
Demonstrating your robust technical knowledge, you will perform advanced control and graphic configuration on systems across the plant and you will help us modernize the DCS and automation systems.
Successfully engaging across the plant, you will coordinate with Operations to implement process improvement, troubleshooting, and periodic health checks of installed base control systems.
Your analytical thinking will be vital as you support the design, program, and commission complex control systems and lead modifications of existing systems.
Your strong organizational skills will be a valued asset as you ensure proper documentation of operating files, records, procedures, and technical files and the annual recertification of their applicability.
- BS in Chemical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years in process control systems in chemical manufacturing
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with maintaining distributed control systems (DCS)
