Our client is growing, and they need to add a Project Manager to their staff. They are in a small city in Michigan’s UP and they manufacture equipment for electrical distribution. The client wants someone who desires to live in a rural Midwest community and put down roots. This is an excellent organization. You will report to the Engineering Manager.
What you will be doing:
- As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the “big picture” and manage a diverse group of internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service through frequent and specific updates on current projects.
- You will be accountable for assigned projects from concept to completion; effectively managing project schedules and margins.
- Responsible for ensuring a quality drawing package is released to manufacturing
- Create BOM’s, maintain schedules, and update quality control forms
- Recognize a need for and identify areas for product and process improvements
- Customer visits (travel approximately 10% of the time)
What they are looking for:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business and 3+ years’ managing custom electrical equipment projects, preferably in the utility or power distribution space
- Ability to technical interpret customer specifications and create a project design which meets all requirements, especially quality and schedule
- Knowledge and understanding of high voltage electrical equipment
- Basic understanding of AC and DC circuits
- Exposure to reading schematics and wiring diagrams
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven analytical & problem-solving skills
