Our client is growing, and they need to add a Project Manager to their staff. They are in a small city in Michigan’s UP and they manufacture equipment for electrical distribution. The client wants someone who desires to live in a rural Midwest community and put down roots. This is an excellent organization. You will report to the Engineering Manager.

What you will be doing:

  • As a Project Manager, you will be responsible for the “big picture” and manage a diverse group of internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service through frequent and specific updates on current projects.
  • You will be accountable for assigned projects from concept to completion; effectively managing project schedules and margins.
  • Responsible for ensuring a quality drawing package is released to manufacturing
  • Create BOM’s, maintain schedules, and update quality control forms
  • Recognize a need for and identify areas for product and process improvements
  • Customer visits (travel approximately 10% of the time)

What they are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business and 3+ years’ managing custom electrical equipment projects, preferably in the utility or power distribution space
  • Ability to technical interpret customer specifications and create a project design which meets all requirements, especially quality and schedule
  • Knowledge and understanding of high voltage electrical equipment
  • Basic understanding of AC and DC circuits
  • Exposure to reading schematics and wiring diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Proven analytical & problem-solving skills
