Are you a Buyer who wants to have sole responsibility for all purchasing for our client company?  Are you a Buyer who has at least two years of experience in a procurement role for a manufacturing company?  If you can answer “yes” to these questions, you should consider this opportunity.

 

Our client is a small, vertically integrated manufacturer with two locations, one in Indiana, and the other in Colorado.  Our client manufactures three distinct product lines in a low volume/high mix environment:  Included are industrial ventilation products for a variety of industries including aircraft, military and HVAC. As the Purchasing Administrator you will report to the Materials Manager.  You will be responsible for the procurement of materials, supplies and contract services required to maintain the building and operations. This position is also responsible for placing purchase orders, price negotiation, collaborating with department managers to ensure inventory control and overseeing the logistics of inbound/outbound freight. 

 

As Purchasing Administrator your major overall responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing purchase orders by verifying specifications and price
  • Directing the buying and/or placing the orders of all production and non-production materials, equipment, and services
  • Maintaining the purchasing policy and ensuring that all purchases adhere to it
  • Overseeing inbound/outbound freight
  • Monitoring inventory and reducing it where possible
  • Working with suppliers on quality and delivery problems

  

As Purchasing Administrator your background should include:
  • A minimum of an Associate’s degree preferred, but a high school diploma or equivalent will be considered
  • A minimum of two (2) years manufacturing purchasing experience 
  • Negotiations experience
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word  
  • Experience with MAS 200 or other related business software a plus
  • Experience with computerized accounting a plus
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Skills in gathering, analyzing, and evaluating data
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
