Apply for the Senior Account Executive – Capital Equipment position
Job Summary
We’ve been retained to conduct a search for our client, a privately held, family-owned industrial technology company specializing in high-value capital equipment for manufacturing and industrial customers. The company operates in a specialized industrial machinery and manufacturing technology space, helping customers expand production capabilities, improve product differentiation, and create new revenue opportunities through highly technical equipment and application expertise.
As the business continues to grow, it is looking for an experienced capital equipment sales professional to develop new customers and expand its U.S. market presence. This is a hands-on opportunity for an experienced salesperson who enjoys creating opportunity, opening doors, and selling custom or engineered capital equipment into industrial and manufacturing environments. Working closely with executive leadership and engineering, this person will personally develop new business, build pipeline, travel extensively to customers, trade shows, and target markets, and help customers understand both the technical capabilities of the equipment and the business opportunity behind the investment.
This is not a passive account management or sales-management role. The successful candidate will be a hands-on hunter who is persistent, technically curious, organized, and comfortable managing high-value capital equipment opportunities through long, consultative sales cycles.
Job Responsibilities
In this role, you will be responsible for developing new customers across the U.S. and managing capital equipment opportunities from initial prospecting through close.
Key responsibilities include:
- Personally develop, manage, and close new custom and engineered capital equipment sales opportunities across the U.S. market
- Build new pipeline through proactive outreach, targeted prospecting, trade shows, customer visits, referrals, market research, and follow-up
- Work with customers to understand their manufacturing processes, applications, production needs, and business objectives
- Sell high-value industrial machinery and equipment by helping customers understand technical capabilities, production value, ROI, and business potential
- Engage confidently with owners, presidents, CEOs, CFOs, engineers, operations leaders, plant managers, and technical buyers
- Learn the company’s technology, equipment, applications, and customer processes deeply enough to speak credibly with sophisticated buyers
- Partner closely with engineering and technical resources throughout the sales process to develop solutions for customer applications
- Maintain consistent CRM activity, including notes, follow-up tasks, pipeline updates, customer history, and forecast information
- Travel extensively to customer sites, trade shows, and target markets to develop opportunities and move deals forward
- Manage opportunities from initial prospecting and discovery through proposal, negotiation, and close
- Represent the company with integrity, credibility, and a consultative approach in the marketplace
Required Skills & Qualifications
The ideal candidate brings a strong combination of relevant capital equipment sales experience, technical aptitude, business maturity, and new-business development drive.
Qualifications include:
- Proven success personally selling custom or engineered capital equipment, machinery, or manufacturing systems
- Relevant sales experience with equipment or systems related to powder coating, liquid coating/paint systems, metal or surface finishing, anodizing, aluminum extrusion, decorative finishing, architectural aluminum, ovens/curing systems, or closely related manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated success personally generating net-new business and self-sourced pipeline, rather than relying primarily on existing accounts or inbound opportunities
- Experience selling into relevant customer environments such as powder coaters, metal finishers, aluminum extruders, custom coaters/job shops, architectural/building product manufacturers, or closely related industrial manufacturers
- Experience managing complex, consultative capital equipment sales involving multiple technical and business stakeholders
- Experience selling high-value capital equipment or technical solutions with deal sizes in the six-figure range
- Ability to help customers evaluate significant capital investments based on ROI, production impact, business value, and/or new revenue opportunities
- Ability to communicate effectively with business owners, executives, engineers, technical buyers, plant leaders, and operations stakeholders
- Strong technical aptitude and ability to develop deep product and application knowledge
- High level of organization, follow-up discipline, and CRM accountability
- Strong work ethic, persistence, and ability to operate independently while maintaining strong communication with leadership
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively for customer meetings, trade shows, and regional market development, including occasional extended regional trips
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but equivalent relevant experience will be considered
Compensation & Benefits

This role requires regular onsite presence when not traveling because of the product’s technical nature and close collaboration with leadership and engineering. Local candidates are preferred; relocation assistance is available for the right candidate.
