The Tooling Engineer's main duties are to facilitate the fabrication of injection molding tools for plastic and wax injection processes. This position will include conceptual design of tooling, project management of tooling fabrication, and implementation of tooling into the manufacturing processes.
 
Job duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
 
Observe all safety regulations; participate in safety training; report all unsafe conditions to the appropriate company personnel.
Develop and implement injection molding tooling and technology.
Design manufacturing tools, including: a) injection molding tools for plastic and wax materials (both single and multiple cavity; b) stamping tools including stamping (striking dies), blanking, and progression; c)fixtures and jigs.
Oversee tooling projects from conception through production start-up.
Work with tooling suppliers on schedules and project implementation.
Review product designs and make recommendations on tooling projects to ensure manufacturability, efficiency, and cost-savings.
Participate in tool design reviews.
Monitor construction of injection molds.
Recommend material for tooling projects.
Source tooling suppliers and interact with them on a regular basis to ensure that services provided meet expectations.
Monitor project schedules with tooling suppliers and ensure that projects are completed on time and according to design.
Implement tooling modifications and improvements.
Work with reverse engineering and rapid prototype resources as needed.
Provide project status and updates to management on a periodic basis.

Identify and resolve problems in a timely manner. Work well in group problem solving situations.
 
Requirements Minimum qualifications for this position include: 
 
BS in Engineering.  Manufacturing or tooling related discipline preferred.
Minimum 5 years experience with design, fabrication, and application of injection molding tools; additional experience is preferred.
Accuracy and precision oriented.
Computer skills:
a. Proficient in CAD software and solid modeling.
b. Proficient in MS Word at a basic level.
c. Proficient in Excel at an intermediate level. including data sorting, spreadsheet design, linking and advanced formulas.
d. Proficient in project management software.
e. Knowledge of CNC programming preferred.
Project planning and management experience.
A proven background working in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
Basic understanding of dimensioning, tolerance and inspection practices.
The demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate design and tooling specifications to suppliers, manufacturing, and engineering.
Working knowledge of operating injection molding machines and processes.
Ability to develop and present basic training for tool design, use, and maintenance.
Ability to work hands-on with tooling and equipment.
Vision correctable to 20/20
Ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds one-third (1/3) of the time.
Ability to work extended or unscheduled hours when needed.
Abilty to travel up to 50% of the time.
Salary : $55,000 – $97,500
