Machine Shop & Programming Manager

Location: Buffalo, NY

Are you a seasoned professional seeking to lead in a dynamic machine shop environment? Join us in Buffalo as we seek a dedicated and experienced Machine Shop & Programming Manager to oversee operations and drive excellence in precision manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of CNC Machinists and Programmers, ensuring optimal performance and productivity.
  • Generate and analyze reports to track machine operation metrics, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with maintenance personnel and OEM machine service technicians to minimize downtime and maintain machine functionality.
  • Maintain schedules for preventative maintenance within their system, ensuring machines are always in top condition.
  • Oversee scheduling for 24/7 lights-out operation, optimizing production efficiency.
  • Assist in preparing quotations for potential incoming work.
  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and organization in the machine shop.
Requirements:
Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience with high-end, large-envelope, 5-axis machine tools, including specific models such as DMGMORI, Parpas, Kuraki and manual mill & lathe machines.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software and other relevant tools.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to address quality issues and implement best practices.
  • Adaptability to manage competing demands and navigate changes in the work environment.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 7 years of machining experience, including at least 3 years in supervision or multi-machine responsibility.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Technical Education or a related field preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for training, trade shows, and special projects.

Reports To: Director of Manufacturing

Compensation:
This role offers a competitive salary ranging from $85,000 to $125,000 depending upon experience and qualifications.
