Our client, a full-service law firm with a legacy of over 150 years, is seeking an experienced Associate Attorney to join its Commercial Loan Workout and Foreclosure Department. This role offers the opportunity to work out of their Nassau County office.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commercial loan workouts and mortgage foreclosure litigation, with knowledge of New Jersey and/or New York foreclosure procedures. The position involves handling a full caseload, including litigation, legal research, drafting, and court appearances.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently manage commercial foreclosure cases from inception to resolution
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, and court documents
  • Manage a foreclosure litigation caseload, ensuring all procedural and court deadlines are met
  • Represent clients in court, including trials, hearings, and depositions
  • Collaborate with other attorneys and legal support staff to provide legal services
  • Maintain client communications, including consultations and case status updates

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited U.S. law school
  • Admission to the New Jersey and/or New York State Bar
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in foreclosure litigation
  • In-depth knowledge of New Jersey foreclosure procedure is required
  • Strong legal research, analytical, and writing skills
  • Demonstrated ability to handle litigation from inception through trial
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills

Requirements & Skill Set

  • Expertise in foreclosure laws, regulations, and court procedures in NJ and/or NY
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail in legal document management
  • Experience with foreclosure case management software and tools (e.g., LexisNexis)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
