Client Summary:
Our client, a leader in the metal packaging industry, is seeking a dynamic Director of Manufacturing / Machining to join their innovative team. This is a unique opportunity to oversee cutting-edge machining operations and drive production excellence in a company known for its commitment to quality and precision.

Position Summary:
We've been retained to find an exceptional leader to manage our client's machining department. This pivotal role requires a visionary to enhance efficiency, ensure top-notch quality, and maintain adherence to production schedules. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CNC machining, tooling, design, and quality inspection, with a strong focus on automation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage machining operations, including planning, scheduling, and executing production activities.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve production efficiency and quality.
  • Supervise a stellar team of machinists and CNC operators, providing guidance and support.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety within the department.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team to optimize machining processes and tools, including CNC environments with tooling, CMM inspection, assembly, and service and repair.
  • Manage the implementation of new ERP systems and optimize the use of current systems.
  • Monitor production metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean practices such as 5S and other common tools.
  • Create and implement programs to enhance productivity and company culture, celebrating team wins and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in machining and manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of CNC machining and tool making, with experience in CMM inspection, assembly, and service and repair.
  • Experience with ERP systems; familiarity with Made to Manage is preferred.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
