Sourcing Manager Profile / Job Description

Job Overview

We are seeking a detailed-oriented, thorough, and organized Sourcing Manager to join our Procurement Operations team. This role is responsible for the Procurement and Subcontracting of various Installation and Controls Engineering and Commissioning Subcontracts including Labor Service Agreements. Must be able to work effectively and independently in a dynamic, complex environment. He/she will work closely together with the team Project Team(s) as well and the Contract Manager. The position will report to the Manager of Project Procurement. Post contract performance management including risk and change management will form part of the supplier relationship responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct or support negotiations and supplier selection.
  • Responsible for delivering productivity through price negotiations and other continuous improvement projects.
  • Support supplier segmentation, Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) and quarterly supplier reviews for all strategic suppliers.
  • Support the plants to help local teams efficiently resolve escalated issues.
  • Leads Procurement NPD activities through preferred supplier programs and RFQ’s.
  • Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets.
  • Work to align strategies between commodity and business localization, plant rationalization and similar.
  • Monitor purchase price variances and resolves discrepancies with internal team members and suppliers.
  • Work with suppliers to address significant and/or systemic issues with performance (quality, delivery, warranty, etc.) as may be required in support of plant Manufacturing, Purchasing and Quality teams.
  • Responsible for coordinating with commodity teams, materials, operations, engineering, finance, quality, and field operations to complete projects and achieve expected benefits within project timeline.
  • Active participant in plant gate reviews ensuring that required cross-functional resources are allocated to execute projects as outlined.
  • Identify gaps to goals and collaboratively develop and support countermeasures and activities to close the gap and exceed targets.
  • Manage reporting of Procurement financial metrics (forecast and actual) including productivity and inflation for responsible plants or projects Support the development of the Annual Operating Plan for productivity projects, targets and initiatives. Support standard setting process for responsible plants.
  • Support Commodity teams goals by leading and executing supplier rationalization, quality and delivery improvement projects. Work to align strategies between commodity and Sector localization, plant rationalization and similar.
  • Coordinate continuous improvement ideation sessions for responsible plants. Generate and evaluate new ideas and opportunities aligned with plant priorities and strategies.
  • Participate in and represent Procurement function during plant or product Innovate to Value ( i2v or VAVE) events. Responsible for collecting and communicating commodity actions following events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5 + of progressively responsible job-related experience.
  • Incumbent must have well-developed negotiation skills and assess vendors.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Word, is required. Proficiency using Excel at an advanced level (use financial and logical functions; work with multiple worksheets and workbooks; edit and use macros/ import and export information) is strongly preferred.
  • Previous lean manufacturing or 6 Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt experience a plus.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data, confirming its accuracy and adequacy, and using it to drive decisions as well as present results and business cases to management.
  • Oracle & SAP experience in a global environment is beneficial.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (primarily commutable travel, but may involve overnight travel from time to time).
  • Be a self-starter; motivated with expert overall sourcing expertise.
  • Incumbent must have strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated effective leadership and influencing skills and practices.
  • Experience coordinating, facilitating discussions, consultation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability and willingness to understand and interact with diverse groups and cultures.
  • Evidence of skills & attributes including effective listening, gathering complete information, ensuring accuracy, problem-solving, negotiating, researching discrepancies, and handling conflict are critical.
